Artist Bio - Audrey A. Wood
My clients inspire me – their lives, their experiences, their families, and their need to express themselves in their homes. I believe the design process should be a collaboration between the homeowner and the designer in which the result is a dream space. I typically begin each space by working with a specially selected focal piece and from there create a finished product which layers architectural details in new and unique ways, and uses exciting color pallets and a rich mixture of textures. The end result is a feeling of warmth and harmony within your home. This feel is usually achieved with an eclectic array of accessories, furniture that looks as if it were collected over a lifetime, one-of-a-kind window treatments, and custom painted murals and faux finishes.
After graduating from the University of Georgia with my BFA, I worked as an artist and designer for the past 14 years. I have a wide breadth of diverse creative experience which makes me as eclectic as the spaces I help to create! I love to paint, and I work as a muralist and faux finisher whenever I am able to do so; being a painter gives me a distinctive eye for color. I have also worked as a buyer which has given me a keen ability to seek-and-find in an efficient and effective way enabling me to plan and accessorize a space in a short amount of time for a reasonable expense. I also decorate clients’ homes in the fall for the holidays. During the past 10 years I have worked on many incredible private homes and model homes. I have created and installed over 300 models and show houses from start to finish traveling from coast to coast for national and regional top 10 award winning builders such as Beazer Homes, John Wieland, and McCar Homes. I also had the honor of working on the 3 residences/businesses in the Atlanta-based project “Live/Work” which was featured in Builder Magazine.
With all of these wonderful chances to create new spaces, I have had the opportunity to explore endless ideas for fantasies in children’s rooms. I thoroughly enjoy working on children’s spaces and have found this to be my special niche. Although I do work on all aspects of clients’ homes, I especially love the unique challenge of making an environment for a child that is full of wonder and magic that stimulates the imagination and provides amazing memories for years to come. My proudest moments are when clients smile and tell me they are thrilled with their homes.
